From trust to impact: AVWA partnership continues to 2027

We are thrilled to announce that we have renewed our partnership with the Australian Vietnamese Women’s Association (AVWA) for two more years, continuing until 2027.

We are thrilled to announce that we have renewed our partnership with the Australian Vietnamese Women’s Association (AVWA) for two more years, continuing until 2027.

Built on trust and community empowerment, the renewal of the partnership is a testament to a shared commitment to promoting recycling and protecting the environment.

Our partnership with AVWA began in July 2024 to support more Vietnamese Victorians to take part in the scheme. Over the past year, hundreds of community members – including families, seniors, small businesses, and places of worship – have returned their containers to help the environment and raise funds.

The success of the partnership comes from AVWA’s strong connection with the community. Education and grassroots activities have helped increase awareness of the scheme, build confidence to participate, and highlight the social and fundraising benefits of recycling.

Marianne Doyle, interim CEO of VicReturn (CDS Vic scheme coordinator) said the extended partnership will continue this important work, helping more Vietnamese Victorians take part in the scheme and ensuring the benefits are shared widely across the community.

“By listening to and working closely with the Vietnamese community, we are building lasting trust in Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme and showing the benefits it brings. We’re excited to keep growing these connections in the years ahead,” she said.

AVWA CEO Nicky Chung said the scheme’s focus on cultural understanding has been key to the partnership’s success.

“Through this partnership, we’ve made recycling with CDS Vic simple and relevant. We look forward to supporting more families, places of worship, and businesses to benefit from the scheme.”
