CDS Vic’s Horsham depot is operated by AXIS Worx, a not-for-profit social enterprise which provides employment and training opportunities to people with disabilities.
Since becoming part of the CDS Vic network in December 2023, the Horsham depot has processed more than 5 million returned drink containers, putting $500,000 back into the community. (updated as of July 2024). “For us to be involved at ground level with the Container Deposit Scheme has been just absolutely amazing,” said Bill Schmidt, Director of Social Enterprise at AXIS Worx.
CDS Vic Horsham is an automated depot which is capable of dealing with large loads of containers, but Bill says it doesn’t matter whether you’ve got 20 drink containers or 100,000 of them, they’d absolutely love to see you returning your containers to their depot. Adding that “Every time you use our facility, you’re contributing to the employment of people with disabilities, and you meet great people along the way!“
